Lazy lady

I overslept and did not go to shala today. Briefly considered a home practice, but decided in favor of a nice, hot, epsom salt bath instead. I will make it up on Sunday.
They fixed my iPod! I also looked at all those Mac notebooks and my palms itched really bad. They were soooo beautiful! Light, bright screens, sleek designs. I have never used a Mac in my life and I am pretty good with PC, so it is a dilemma. My current notebook is 3.5 years old and it suffers from erectile dysfunction - I have to prop the screen to keep it upright. The 100 gb hard drive is too tight for me now. And everybody says Vista sucks. Shall I abandon a PC and turn to a Mac I know nothing about? Dilemma.
Happy Friday!

Macs rule & you'll get 10% cooler immediately on purchase! (Not to mention considerably lighter in the pocketbook).

I am not sure they are lighter on the pocketbook. The one I like costs around 1700, a similar one from HP is 1200. But still I am tempted something terrible! The material world still has a very strong hold on me. :(

erectile dysfunction!! hahahaha!
i used to be a mac girl but i married a PC guy and i have to say i like the PC better. we have a gateway that is maybe the same age as your notebook, maybe actually older. still works well. i used Anna's mac notebook when i was there, and i would have to say, look at the gateway. no offense to Anna or to Boo :)

Thank you, Tova! I like your perspective. :)

BTW, I might've found three people interested in helping you. Will see if it works out for them.

mac does rule, and you will get instant satisfaction once you have one (compared to what that erectile dysfunctional one gives you ;-)

also, one of my colleagues, who's always been a pc guy, just got a mac due to the suckyness of vista. he really loves it.

go for it girl, you're worth it :)

ok, admittedly, vista does suck.

I've used both PC and Mac extensively and I think, just like everything in this world, they both have their positive and minus marks.

However, what I think pushes a lot of people over to a Mac these days is that you can run Microsoft on a Mac if you need. I've a lot of die-hard Windows friends that use Macs and say their the best Windows laptops for consumers.

So, maybe get a Mac and run both OS X and Vista? Kind of a win-win situation? It's what Rayna did and she just gradually started using OS X more and more. She now calls the Windows side the "dark side". :-)

Hi Alfia!

How funny, I was just in this dilemma recently, and decided to try my luck with the Mac. As in your case, part of the attraction was purely physical ;P Mac was just so sleek, that I blamed it all on my shallowness :) But I decided to give it a shot, and I find that it's just really light, nice to use, and the start up runs so much faster and smoother... all and all, there is no comparison in quality to my all cranky Dell, which seemed to be making noises and getting frozen nonstop, or even that my IBM laptop, which I have in the office. I'm just very happy to have changed teams :P
With all this said, having been familiar with PCs all my life, there are some little things I've found I need to adjust to. The use of the mouse is, for instance, a bit differently, and I suppose it takes a little to get used to. I still haven't run Microsoft Office on the Mac, but I find myself so stuck with my use of excel, word, etc, that doing little spreadsheets for home needs in the Mac is still a bit of a foreign activity to me. But I've only had the Mac for 2-3 weeks now, and I haven't had to do much of that, so I haven't practiced either. The only point I'm trying to make is that there are little things that you do in your sleep in your PC that you'll probably have to retrain if you get the Mac, though it seems to me that once you've covered that fix learning cost, it's just a really great, fast, trusty (and handsome) machine.

yep yep, i must vote for the mac! i only use windows for SAS (statistical application that for some reason costs the government a gazillion dollars for a yearly license but doesn't run on OS X) and one other NIH application. other than that i'm all mac. much better interface, prettier, and it just all-around runs better and smarter than the PC.

I vote mac! I converted from PC in 2003 and I don't think I will ever go back!

Good morning, Alfia! My little ibook is on her last legs. I think she's six years old now. I want a new laptop but maybe I can just have her tuned up...

So, practice this morning? How was your Urdva Dhanurasana today? ;)
