Path to mindful living

lies through breaking (or loosing) your ipod. Which happend to me this morning. As a result, I noticed today's weather, talked to three times more people than I normally do, avoided mistakes in a kinase protocol (do not ask!), and nearly completed my homework for Monday's teaching class. Nevertheless, all those wonderful things do not mean that I am not going to the Apple store the second I am free from work. I need my audiobooks (whine)!

If I lost my iPod I would lose all my yoga workouts that I carry with me when I travel. YIKES!!
I do like audiobooks for when I walk sometimes, but I noticed that I do miss out on so much. I don't see the flowers or the flow of the river, I don't hear the birdsong, and I don't listen to the stillness of my breathing and I lose that meditative state that is always available when I am quiet.

Maybe the message is to take a break and "listen" and "see" more of what is around you. There could be a message inside of you waiting to surface. Maybe you should try it for just a few days without the iPod.
If you do try it, let me know if anything surfaces

;( Sorry about the iPod..! Though I agree with Gypsy Girl in that sometimes thinks happen for a reason. I often think that all these gadgets are great--they allow us to stay connected to things that are important to us (like your books). And yet, they disconnect us from others that we may see sometimes as irrelevant, when they are not. Good you got a chance to enjoy them. :D

Hi, Gypsy Girl and Nairam:

You are so right! This incident have demonstarted how addicted I am to the thing, and how much I miss as a result. I do need to decrease the amount of vicarious living in favor of actual mindful living. A wake-up call.

Thank you!
