Still playing games, owning Laghu Vajrasana and no longer drinking alcohol

Nearly two weeks off the blog. Facebook games madness continues, but the eagerness to play faded a little; so there is hope on the horizon. Several things happened while I was away:
1) I need to kill my inner alcoholic permanently, because I have a life-threatening sensitivity to sulfites. Had a major asthma attack after celebrating my husband's CFA exam with Russian champagne. It is not like I love drinking wine, but still this makes me a little sad. Oh well, I am forced to live a healthier lifestyle, shouldn't complain.
2) We are thinking about buying a condo. With 2 bedrooms, which means we'll be able to accomodate guests. Wink-wink.
3) I can do Laghu Vajrasana now. Like so many yoga poses, this one turned out to be not about superhuman strength. It is all about spatial geometry, knowing where to press, which muscles to contract, which parts to release. Aliya hepled me a lot with this pose. I do not know what I am going to do when he, Rayna and Ananda are gone to Paradise (here, on Earth!). Sigh.

Nice to see you blogging again Alfia :) I haven't been at it myself in a much longer time! Lost in a time warp as usual doing a million things (not even Facebook) and hope to return to blog again soon. No way to say I could catch up though but not that many people read me so that's okay ;)

I hear ya on the sulfites, alcohol, etc...I too am an asthma sufferer. I don't drink much at all. Never wine unless it doesn't have sulfites which there are some organic ones out there without. I tend to stick to a little tequila with lemonade when I want a little drink :) That's about it and believe me, after age 50, somehow it is not that appealing due to hormonal shifts.

Laghu Vajrasana...sigh...I can only dream. My knees can't do it. I've tried and tried but it may be one of those poses I am anatomically unable to achieve.
I can live with it as long as I can practice, no matter what :)

Have a great week!
Big hugs,
ABY

Thank you, Tova!
I am sad about you leaving, too! But also excited about your trip. And relieved that it is only for a month!

Hi, Arturo:

Figuring out the mechanics is the key, isn't it? Such a satisfying feeling when something works out, even if it felt impossible in the beginning. I love yoga! :)

Thank you, Liz:

I think I never responded to your previous comment, though I meant to. It was very helpful - thank you, thank you, thank you! <3

Hi, Aby:

I have the feeling that Laghu strengthens the knees a lot. Have you tried to do just little dips?

My doctor told me that there is no such thing as sulfite-free wine (they are formed during fermentation), even the organic ones and so-called "sulfite-free". The latter just mean that sulfites were not added on top. Anyway, you made me think about tequila -maybe this is what I will indulge my inner alcoholic with? Mwa-ha-ha! :)
Thank you, Aby!

:) LOL about the games. There was a time where I was playing Knighthood like crazy, but those days are over... it just sucked up so much of my time! I know it's hard to abandon them, though.

Sorry to hear about the wine... but as you say, healthier lifestyle! And congrats on all the new poses/achievements :)

PS Will also miss A,A, and R.

yay for LV!! you know, you could ask A about "proxy yoga." he can do the postures FOR you and let you know how you're coming along with regular updates! ;-) (this was originally a david swenson joke about how to make more money.)

the move is definitely bittersweet. we are going to miss everyone. :-( can you please get the condo so we can come visit you? (^_^)

p.s. compassionatebitch temporarily down as we gear up for the move, etc. will be back up in a little while...

p.p.s. living in a teepee sounds like fun! and doable in hawaii for sure! hehe.

I was wondering what happened to your blog rayna :)

Hi, Nairam:
I agree - what a colossal waste of time, these games. And yet I am still playing...
It is good to have you back at the studio!

alfia said...

Rayna - you know that you are always welcome in our house, whether we get a condo or not. But I hope we get it, if only to make you more comfortable! Please come and visit! :)
Proxy yoga is funny. If Aliya is going to do poses for me, I have nothing to worry about. And what a beautiful yoga practice will I have!

What is a teepee?!

oh we would LOVE to visit you! <3

Hi Alfia!
This week I noticed in laghuvajrasana that mula bandha was actually holding me up. I never realised that before!

Mula bandha, eh? Forgot to apply it today. I will try again tonight. Thank you for the tip - I need all the help I can get! :)
