:(

I am sick.
Spent all Sunday in bed with a mother of all headaches, oozing snot and all the other joys of cold. Did not even attempt to practice, because was feeling too icky. I will skip shala today, just to avoid spreading the germs, but have a light practice at home. Will work from home, too.
It is funny how my self-confidence was crushed. Last week I felt so invincible, walking around sneezing and coughing people and thinking "I do yoga, eat right and wash my hands often. There is no way I can get sick". Yeah, right.

Amazing how the body works. Take it easy today - drink lots of tea and get lots of sleep. Feel better soon!

Dear alfia,
Enjoy the time where you can stay in bed. You have nothing else to do then.

Of course get well soon.

Greetings from Germany

Ursula

I fall into the invincible trap too, despite having lived my entire life with a less than totally stellar immune system. I'll do dumb things like share my drink w/ a sick friend and then kick myself later.

I hope you feel better! Good for you for working from home.

(salt bath! - hey ever tried Dr. Haushka Moor Lavender body oil? You should get some to cheer yourself up. Make sure it's the "Moor" kind. There's moor lavender and just regular lavender)

You have my sympathy. I too was sick over the weekend and I still have a sniffle today. Seems like something always comes up, doesn't it? Sore shoulders, sore backs, runny noses... Hope you feel better soon!

Oh no - feel better!

And honestly, good for you for not going to the shala. It always drives me bats when people practice there sick - it's inconsiderate to our shalamates, and to our teachers.

Hey, I was here before wishing you to get-well-soon, but I think my comment must have been eaten.

Feeling any better?

OMG, so many get well wishes! I just woke up from theraflu-induced coma and thanks to you feeling much better. Love ya all! :)

I agree with you, Anna. I hate it when somebody sneezes next to me when I practice. Deep uyjaii breath seems unhealthy then, somehow. Though I do understand that it might be just allergies...

Sometimes it's even just DUST...

Get well soon Alfia. There's a lot of it about this side of the pond as well, I avoided it so far, but...

Increase the warmth in your body. You know, you're like the fourth person I've talked to today who is sick. Sleep more, drink hot water, rub self with sesame oil and take hot shower...oh ya, keep your ears covered.

Thank you, Kevin and Tiffany!

It is going around. Keep yourselves healthy.

I have not heard about sesame oil. Need to try. I might have some in the house.

I always need to keep my neck covered when I'm under the weather too!

Take care Alfi!

alfia said...

Thanks, Linda!

Neck covered - check! I actually feel much, much better. I think I might make it to shala tomorrow, if there is no snot and sneezing. I slept like 18 hours or so today.

Hey you know what works for me sometimes, IF I do it before my throat is sore...?

If I feel a tightness or sensitivity in my neck I will often cover it - special attention to glands - with Tiger Balm. If I do this before I actually have a scratchy throat, about half the time I will bypass the cold, if I also get a good night's sleep...

Even if you're too late it feels good on your neck and helps open up your sinuses a bit.

alfia said...

Really? I will try it right now. My throat is sore a little, may be it is just the right time. Never heard of this before! Thank you! I will let you know if it helped. :)

It's a little miracle cure sometimes.

Oh no! Get well soon, sweet Alfia! :)

Dear Alfia,

Feeling better? I hope so--didn't see you today...

alfia said...

Hi, Elaina! Good to hear from you. I registered for SFN conference, so I guess I will see you soon! :)

Morning, Nairam:
I was so weak today, decided to do a yoga nidra instead. But I do feel better.
