Nice, long weekend

Due to the sacrificial goat quality Ladies holiday, no yoga asanas the last four days. But I did some meditating and a lot of thinking. Started to plan for the 15-week fall session at the yoga studio where I teach. Got to spend time with friend's wonderful kids. Went to the Zoo with other friends from out of town. Had a lab lunch with co-workers. Did a lot of home cleaning and laundry. Nice weekend all in all. Today - back to the shala! My body is screaming for the movement and stretch.
From the Zoo - Arturo, here is a little frog for you:

Morning, Alifa! September is here. Do you smell it?

Let's all go out and buy pencils and new lunchboxes. :)

Psst, Alfia? I remember you writing that you had a yoga Nidra cd that you liked. Who's it by?

Hi, JS! I can smell the Fall big time. There are leaves on the windshield every morning. I am sorry the Summer is gone.

I have a CD by Swami Janankanda. I like it a lot. Are you going to practice yoga Nidra?

Hi, Nairam:

Thank you. How are you? I am going to check your blog now. Have a great one!

I'm thinking about it. You know I have problems with insomnia? I'm interested to see if it would knock me out cold at night like it does to you when you try to listen to it! ;D

You should definitely try it. Strictly speaking, you are not supposed to sleep during yoga nidra, but I just can't help it. You will probably reap benefits regardless whether you fall asleep or stay awake. It should make you relaxed enough to fall asleep afterward.
Good luck!
PS I wish I could share my excessive sleepiness.... Yawn....:)

Alfia is being modest. she babysat for me and refuses to take massage as compensation. and the kids had the best time with her!

JS, have you ever tried sleeping with earplugs in? i fall asleep much more quickly, and while all other noise is blocked out, it amplifies the sound and rhythm of my breath and is very soothing.

I had the best resting time with your kids, Tova. This can not possibly be work hard enough to be compensated. And I need my Karma points, anyway. Anytime, Tova, anytime.

Awwwww! (re. Tova's children)

I can't smell the fall here yet, which I'm grateful for. After fall comes winter.

It seems like forever ago that I was in DC in October, which was in 2006... the weather was beautiful and it was happy. Pretty leaves.

Oh yes, I know I'm not really supposed to go to sleep with it--but I'm hoping that it will relax me enough to slip away at night. For a week and a half I've been taking a French version of those tylenol "simply sleep" things and so I've gotten at least 6 hours every night--I feel WONDERFUL. I imagine what 8 hours would do for me... I might be able to get rid of these dark circles under my eyes!

Gotta go natural, though. I think this drug is basically benadryl. Isn't that what Simply Sleep is? Anyone ever take that?

Hi Cranky. I've never tried sleeping with earplugs--I'll try it, because maybe the amplified breath thing would be soothing. It isn't usually outside noise that keeps me awake, though. More like inner racket! Sometimes watching TV helps me fall asleep more than a quiet room, as long as whatever's on is not too interesting.

JS, have you ever tried using a white noise machine? Course, when BF is snoring, I have to use both earplus AND a white noise machine.

Hi Alfia
Oh, wow, that is a beautiful frog!
Thanks, Alfia. I anticipate that my week this week will mimic yours because of things I have to plan and do, which will interrupt my practice.
hugs, Arturo
