I got noosed!

And just like that, after a completely uninspiring this morning's practice, 9 months after receiving setu bandhasana and 1 year 2 months after starting ashtanga mysore, I was moved to the second series. I could not bind on any of the sides of pasasana on my own (I used to bind easily on the right side, and with difficulty - on the left), but that did not diminish my joy. I think I will be fine even if I stay here for another year - it is just the symbolism of the pose that makes me happy. I need to go and bounce around a little. Happy Monday!

I seem to remember someone consoling you that your pasasana was on the way... You know, it's hard to be right so often, as I tell Rayna frequently. :-p

You'll be binding before too long, trust me.

Hi, Aliya:
I know, it is a hard responsibility to be right all the time, but you bear it very well! :)
Can you hear the elephant stomping from Rockville? It is me, jumping around with joy. :D

Ha ha ha... you're hardly an elephant! But yes, I could feel your elation from across the room. I had to stop what I was doing and look around to see where all that happiness was coming from.

yaaay!!! congrats, alfia!! and you looked good too! ;-) it is a huge milestone and you should totally celebrate. and NO, i can't hear an elephant stomping from rockville - just a bendy yogini delicately prancing in one of the NIH buildings near me...

Ha! It took me three years to get to that point. Congratulations, sweet Alfia! I know how awesome it feels to move on when you have been stuck.

Yay, happy dance!

Thank you, Anna! Joyful dance, indeed. I have a hard time explaining myself to my co-workers. :D

Congratulations! That's one of the best poses to get assisted in I think. Feels super awesome.

Congrats Alfia !!!!!! :)

By the way, that chair hip stretch you showed me has made Supta Kurmasana so much easier. Thanks again for that.

I think the pose you had a cute picture of in your last post is called Firefly :)

I am indeed coming to SfN! I'll only be there for half of the meeting. I'll send details to your email. I'd like to see you as much as possible if you have the time:)

Hey he removed his comment! No fair!

Hi,Linda:

I read the comment - yep, love muffin. I love him, too! Jason is awesome.

I was so busy today, could not even comment on anybody's blog. Will rectify this at home. Still happy, though! Touched fingers in pasasana.

Tip for you in learning to bind - you can practice at home with sacrum at wall. I learned to bind to my wrists this way. Added Pashasana to my self practice and spent a minute working on each side.

I still can't get my heels flat on the floor though. I used to do Pashasana at the wall, a minute per side, and then with a mat rolled a bit under my heels, another minute a side. Now I just do the latter.

No one's commented on me today, but am carrying on a conversation w/ Acorn on an earlier post. Perhaps no one knew what to say about me calling my teacher a dickhead. I meant it affectionately though. He can be like an annoying, older brother.

I actually read your post and was laughing at your huffing and puffing. But so busy today - may head is exploding. No matter.
Thank you for the tip! I will try it at home. Weirdly, I do not have any problems keeping my heels on the floor, it is just hugging my voluminous self that evades me at the moment.

You must have long achilles tendons. At least that's what "they" say. I have bad ankle flexibility. Was born pigeon-toed (small mother) and had to wear leg braces to fix the problem from age 1-3. So there you go. Birth defect.

I had worked myself into SUCH a spastic state this morning. And the thing is, he'd totally have given me more poses before. Now? No.

He goaded me into learning to handstand and so I did and then wanted to do it all the time & then he took it away. (dickhead)

Congrats Alfia. Big milestone. It took me three years to get to setu bandhasana, and fourteen months after first standing from a backbend to get pasasana.

You're on the fast-track!

Hi, Rick:

Thank you for stopping by! :)

The thing is that I have been doing yoga since summer of 2000. Just other types of yoga. So one might say it took me eight years to get to the second series. Now this should make feel anybody better, right?

CONGRATS! That's awesome. :)

Alfia, congratulations!! Next few poses can't be far behind either... enjoy :)

Without an assist, I can JUST bind and JUST get my heels down. With an assist I can take the wrist but.. teachers understand that we have hips, fortunately!

'my voluminous self' lol..
