Who is more flexible than a yogi?

A rhythmic gymnast, as it seems. This such an amazing sport, though not very popular in America. It seems there was only one woman from North America, who qualified for Beijing. But what an amazing sport it is! So much beauty, grace, flexibility and precision. And the bodies of rhythmic gymnasts look so much better than the bodies of the "regular" gymnasts.

And here some highlights from Beijing:

They DO have really beautiful bodies. I have thought so too. I'm gonna watch these clips but later. Me sleep. Burnt & sleepy.

You're so right about their bodies--not at all muscle bound like those little powerhouse gymnasts.

Gymnastics and swimming seem to do un-pretty things to women's bodies.

Hi Alfia
The poor babies in the first video. hehe. They are so graceful in their movements in the second video. I'm rambling. I actually have a bit of trouble watching these. I posted one also on my blog, and I have to stop in the middle. Ha! Is that ADD? No. probably the mind not being able to process so much flexibility.
Hugs,
Arturo

Hey Alfia,
Great Post :) My husband was just asking me the other day which olympic sport I would want to compete in, and now I have an answer! :)
My work is going well. Drowning in the aftermath of a couple weeks of experiments without break. Now I have to deal with all this data and try to write it up for publication.
How are things at your lab?
Love,
E

TOO THIN!!!!!!! Sorry, JS, I have to disagree, I like the way the women swimmers look, I think they look healthy and normal. And don't get me started on the male swimmers!!!!! Muy caliente. Not a big fan of the female 'regular' gymnasts' bodies though. They always look like their growth has been stunted to me.

I must look like that :) People ask me here & there if I was a gymnast. I was looking at myself in the mirror when I took a couple Bikram classes a little while ago and I thought, "Damn, you look weird."

Wow! Such lyrical movement.. I love these guys, especially the ribbon ones in the second clip were amazing, I love the swirls that the ribbon makes like calligraphy.

Good song on the first one too, who is that?

Thanks :)

Hi, everyone!
Sonya, do you really think they are too thin? I would kill to look like that.
Linda, I am sure you look beautiful!
Susan, I do not know what song is playing there. :(
Arturo, this is funny that your brain can't process too much flexibility! :D
Elaina, good to hear from you! Good luck with the data processing - my least favorite part of the experiment.

Oh, I'm desensitized to what a lot of people consider too thin because of being around ballet dancers all my life. I guess I should clarify and say that it's their feminine symmetry that I find so beautiful. The little gymnasts and bigger swimmers always look to me as though they have done something to stave off puberty (also common in ballet, but it doesn't result in biggish shoulders and narrow hips--that manish triangle shape). So I'm not talking really about the weight of these rhythmic gymnastic girls, although their weight doesn't bother me really.
