Lazy Sunday

Very good Sunday so far. I went to practice today because Rayna was in town, even though it was ladies holiday. The practice was OK overall, I felt a little weak and voluminous. But there is always one moment that can make or break a feel of the practice, isn't there? Today it was assisted dropbacks, where David helped me so that I touched my heels. Yay! It felt great, and absolutely unexpected. I had no idea my hands were even in the neighborhood!
Tova practiced in the shala, too. Her dropbacks are stunning, just stunning. After the practice, Tova and I went to Whole Foods for breakfast and had a lovely chat with Rayna, Matt, David and two people I haven't met before - Leo and Mike. Leo turned out to be a Russian from St.Petersburg.
I came home afterwards and had a long nice nap. Aaah! If not for a class I need to teach tonight, I would say the life is perfect. After a frenzy of the previous week rest felt precious.

I want stunning drop backs! I don't want to settle for just impressive circus tricks!

You on holiday too hey? Wish I'd gone to practice now.

Hi, Linda:
I would have normally skipped, but I am glad I didn't. Some people say that during the holiday the flexibility increases, which might explain my sudden breakthrough with UD. But Tova's backbends are always amazing.

Are you sure you know how your backbend look like? You might have a stunning variety too, but just not know it.

Congrats on touching your heels! Small measurements start to mean a lot don't they?

Continue to enjoy the rest of your Sunday :)

My backbends themselves are not that bad now, but the drop backs still very clunky. I do a mean inversion though...

I tend to always go on the holidays. I probably should've just taken a full day off Friday, but oh well.

the heel touch was exciting! and your drop backs looked great today!

even 'natural backbenders' have not so great days. today wasn't bad but it was stellar. however i made it through! and nothing was in pain! victory!
see you tomorrow a.m.!

Hi, Portside: Yep, yay to the small victories! They make it all worthwhile, right?

Tova, you make me so happy! Thank God you moved to DC! Wasn't it great to see Rayna today?

Hi Alfia
My golly, you're really bendy.
Congrats.

Sounds like you have a neat group to get together with.

I love that you can all practice together and that's awesome about hands to heels!

You ladies are so nice to each other.
It is just dandy but a good cat fight could really increase your readership. How bought we get our claws out to spread ashtanga awareness. I know Cranky is down and isn't Rayna supposed to be fierce. All publicity is good publicity.

alfia, if you're doing zumba, the next time you're in sf we can go to naked yoga and bikram. we can at least infuse bikram with some kapos to replace the ustrasanas, susananda style.

Rayna isn't "supposed" to be fierce... She IS fierce. But only when necessary, appropriate, or incited by dumb bitches that don't respect her authoritah!

Hi, anon:
If you didn't noticed by my lazy-ass writing, I do not care much about readership. But I do care about friendship, and being nice to each other is a part of it. I do not think we should spread the awareness of ashtanga by being nasty to each other.
Sorry.

Hi eeoyre:

I am not sure about naked yoga (there might be young and impressionable people is the room, I would not like to scar them for life). Nevertheless, next time I am in SF, I will practice any style of yoga with you and infuse anything with whatever you like! :)
Promise me to do the same next time you are in DC?

Hi, anon2:

I still have a hard time picturing Rayna fierce. She is the sweetest girl I have ever met, and the rumors of her fierceness confuse me. :)
She is amazing, though.

Yes, the fierceness of Rayna is rare but terrible sight. Her sweetness and beauty are so immense that her fierceness just doesn't get out very much, which aint a bad thing. What's even more amazing, is that even when fierce, she's still awfully cute ;-)

Late to the party, as usual, but it's so nice that you have such nice people to practice with. If I could practice with lovely people like you and Tova, instead of just me, myself and I, I might have a more consistent practice! Ha!

It sounds a really sweet lazy Sunday :) Not only the time at the Shala, but the after-practice get together!!! ;)

Hi Alfia! I posted on your blog a while ago about Ashtanga in DC. I am now happily moved in to a place in Arlington (incidentally I live really close to Sun & Moon Yoga) and would love to meet up with you for tea sometime if that would be possible. Perhaps I can even try to make it to one of your classes!
