Boring diaries and Alzheirmer's

In the ongoing Nun Study, the investigators studied the diaries of those nuns who kept them from the childhood. The interesting finding was that the nuns that were "destined" to get Alzheimer's later in life had the least number of ideas per unit of writing. In other words, their diaries were boring. I looked at my writing and got really scared. Need to look up all those things that ward off Alzheimer's. Vitamin E was it?

Dear Alfia,

Your diaries are not boring. You are sharing one with us, and it keeps me amused, entertained and heartened enough to keep visiting your blog everyday :)

Thank you, Nairam!
I am just surprised how little I have to say. All other diaries, including yours, have PARAGRAPHS. I can barely collect enough words for one. Just an observation.
But I appreciate your kind words very much! :)

Oh, Rayna, your words into God's ears! Is it the right exression? I do not remember! Aaaaaaa! :D

Thank you, darling! I miss you here. I count days until both of you return.
Mwah!

I also say you are not boring, but how interesting of a study!!!

I read once that people who "keep things in", as in bottled up, are far less likely to survive cancer. I remember thinking at the time - and this was WAY before blogging - that I'd be in the surviving group.

I think this is a fascinating study! Turns out that I lied; it was not done in France, but in the States (I included a link). They are Sisters of Notre Dame, which threw me off.

Poor nuns (tricks are for kids).

I got the pix of Wreck. What was he THINKING??? It's a totally unflattering shot & his body does NOT look all that. Not at ALL (that).

Jason is hotter.... Little bugger never turned up in NYC obviously. Maybe I should've given him some more encouragement? I'll email him today....

I go from nuns right back to my own sex life or lack thereof. Doh!

You didn't post the picture did you? Let's say in batcave? ;)

I looked at the publication for the nun study and one of the latest claims there is a strong correlation between low number of teeth (by 75 years old) and dementia. Need to make an appointment with a dentist. Sigh.

Na I didn't. I could post it w/ his face blacked out, and I'd do it if I thought the shot were flattering.

He could look a lot better than he does in this picture. I wouldn't throw him out of bed, no. But he's not looking studly here.

Oooh I spent my dentist money on plane fare. It's been FOUR YEARS. This is really bad but I haven't had a pap test in that time too. Insurance. Maybe I'll get all that done in India.

Sigh.

Sugar daddy - pronto! :D

Ya man.... then I can start teaching some yoga right? Course I'd need to learn more about teaching as opposed to practicing, but still... I thinkI could be of some service.

Seriously, Linda, I think you would make an amazing teacher. You have the first-hand knowledge, enthusiasm for sharing it and a great personality. Just go for it!

I haven't gone that route thus far cause it's easier for me to make $ doing graphic art (#1) and I've wanted to focus on practice. Seems to me that often when people get really involved in teaching, their own practice suffers.

It's something I'd definitely want to try if I didn't need to do it "for the money".

Hi Alfia

I think there is room for improvement in writing. When I first started writing home from college, my mom complained that my weekly letters all said, "I am well, classes are fine, prayer circles are fine, everything is going well." (Since they were in spanish, they all said, "todo esta bien.") I've improved since then.

Hi, Arturo:
In my case, there is definitely a lot of room for improvement there. I am not sure though if the good acquired writing skills can improve on the scarcity of ideas. On the other hand, who knows? What is the ease in writing uncovers hidden wealth of creativity? Hmmm...
