Für Elise

I am no Beethoven, but I want to express my gratitude to Elise for the wonderful tips on how to stand up from UD. She posted them in the comments to Elaina’s post, and I found out about them from Arturo’s blog. Ugh. But, as a result of this very convoluted path of knowledge, I stood up today! Granted, it was just once and from a low bench we have for this purpose, but that is the beginning, right?

you have to start somewhere, Alfia! great job! it is amazing how one little tip can really change a whole pose. i feel like i have so many people that i carry with me through my practice, because they have given me a tip or an adjustment and then i always think of them at that point in my practice.

Thank you, Tova!

You are so right! I too, remember people and the advice that helped me in my practice. But what a wonderful treasury of the knowledge the blogging community is!

Congrats! I find that it's mostly about using the legs -when I first started I was rocking a lot and throwing myself up, which ultimately hurts the lower back.

Happy Monday!

Good morning, Anna!

I think that inhaling on the way up was a critical moment for me. Though is is all so new, I am totally lacking any awareness of which part of me doing what :D
But I am very excited and can't wait till tomorrow's practice!

Happy Monday to you, too!

Thank you Linda!

I am sitting at work and I have a big goofy smile plastered on my face. Oh these little things that make us happy... :D

Oh yes, exhale down, inhale up. Ride the breath, kind of like a wave. Makes enormous difference.

Don't you feel powerful now?!? You are supergirl! You can do anything! : )

I feel deliriously happy. Only there is a small voice in the back of my head saying "Let's see first if you still can do it tomorrow... and without the bench..."

wow, congratulations, alfia, that's superb. isn't it funny that i know all of the mechanics, all that has to happen, could probably teach it, and i still haven't done it? hehehehe.

arturo
